Living at 8600 ft elevation along the Wyoming/Colorado state line can have its drawbacks, but, for a landscape and wildlife artist, this country is a never-ending supply of inspiration. I love it here! These photos of "my backyard" show why.
I love where I live, but sometimes it's nice to get away. Here I am on a C130 (military transport) heading to San Diego for some R&R.
Springtime in the Rockies! 34 inches of snow on 4/23/10. Photo taken from my dining room window. The tracks are those of last night's moose visitors.
These guys actually prefer winter to summer, I think.
I see moose almost every day in the spring, summer, and fall. Of course, I put a salt block out there to chase them away.
The Shira moose around here aren't as large as those in Alaska and Canada, but you still wouldn't want to get tossed around by one of these guys, so I'm pretty careful.
Sand Creek is "the river that runs through", with beaver ponds galore. This is one of the better fishing spots.
The most familiar landmark on the way into Laramie. This is right on the state line. From the WYO side it is called "Camel Rock". But it's better known in Colorado as "Chimney Rock".
Bull Mtn from Sand Creek Pass, where I ride often. I live on the other side of the mountain.
Looking SW from Sand Creek Pass, toward the Rawahs. I ride there, too, but only in the summer and early fall.
